Event | Shilpa Gupta and Salil Tripathi at the Edinburgh Art Fesitval

Shilpa Gupta, a Mumbai-based artist, joins Salil Tripathi, author and Chair: Writers in Prison Committee, PEN International for a conversation on her new piece, 'For, in your tongue I cannot hide.'

Shilpa Gupta's work, a 'multi-channel sound installation' gives 'voice to poets who have been rendered abruptly voiceless' (The Guardian). Gupta's installation is comprised of 100 microphones and 100 spikes, highlighting the cost of freedom of expression for 100 jailed poets. She will discuss her commission with writer and journalist Salil Tripathi, and will consider some of the writers and poems who have informed this major new work.
