PEN Haiti hosts open mic night
On Saturday 1 September 2018, the PEN Haiti Centre organised a fundraising evening at the Hotel Karibe, in Pétion-Ville.
The evening, named "Pour que vive le reve de Georges Anglade (Keeping Georges Anglade's dream alive)," brought together on the blue-lighted stage a dozen musicians, singers, poets and tellers. They offered the enthusiastic audience a beautiful evening of music and words, where themes such as life, love, politics (inevitable in the current context of Haiti) made laugh, reflect and dream the audience.
Local sponsors had responded to the call of the PEN Haiti Centre and made their contribution to help the re-establishment of the PEN Haiti Centre and the Georges Anglade author's residency.
There is a lot more to do to reach our goals but the most important thing was to put the PEN Haiti Centre back in the cultural and social news and in the attention of the larger public. And that has been a success.
